Terrible Lizard.

A co-worker is passing around his sketchbook for people to draw something in a page or two. The dinosaur guy to the left is what I contributed. The original background is in purple, but my scanner tends to pick up that shade way hot. So I cooled it down a bit.

This comes on the same day my sister sent me a link to the Sketchbook Project, which I’m considering participating in. You pay an entry fee, and they send you a sketchbook. You send it back after a few months, and they tour all the sketchbooks together, then keep them in a library.

I’m curious about just how much exposure a single sketchbook gets out of the many, and what rights to the work an artist has once the Project takes them back. On the other hand, it would be a great exercise to get one drawing regularly to fill up the book, and it would be pretty neat to know an artifact of your work (essentially a reflection of what was going on outside of the sketchbook during the period it was filled) is floating out in the world for all to see.
