True wuv.
Sorry for the delay; I went through something of a miniature creative crisis.
I had an autobiographical comic ready for Monday that I held off until Tuesday. It was about the house I’m currently renting in, the landlord, the neighborhood, and the general lame-ness of them all. The punchline involved the supposition that, since there’s nothing illegal going on, my only recourse would be to defile my rent check.
Looking at the comic, I realized that it wouldn’t exactly be the smartest thing to put that online, especially since I’ll be looking for somewhere to live within the next few weeks, and will probably be sharing links to Chikin Guy with potential roommates.
In addition, I’d gotten a call from work in response to the Baby Dropping Comic the other week. They were worried for my sake, in case anyone involved in the actual occurrence should read the comic and get all offended (I’ll reiterate now that the comic is full of lies and fictions in order to make it more interesting).
Because of all this “hitting too close to home” stuff, I kinda receded. But yesterday, I drew this little Beetlebaum comic, and I’m quite happy with it; I didn’t write up a script for it or use a ruler/t-square to make the panels, both things I typically have done for every comic in the last few months. Getting back to the simplicity of direct, spontaneous comicking was quite refreshing.
